3D, at least the standard that the consumer electronics manufacturers and
hollywood have agreed on for this standard which is being built into new tv's
will require bluray for home playback. They wont be selling disks in 3D that
follow the agreed upon standard on DVD. So unless xbox wants to get on the
bandwagon and follow THE standard, they will need to have blu ray on their
next box.

What the hell are you talking about the 3-D you talk about is
available right now on the 360. What the fuck does Blu-Ray have to do
with it?
You need HDMI ,1080p and min 120hz HDTV for Avatar to run RIGHT NOW
TODAY ON THE 360.

But the 360 already has 3D games, it has been said in this thread ad
nauseum. Again, BR has nothing to do with 3D graphics, no matter how much of
a Sony fan you are.

Wow, that was telling. Besides having slower frames, the PS3's colors seem a
little washed out and background textures are not as sharp and detailed as
the 360 version.

But it will be the only format that 3D movies that follow "THE" standard
agreed by the Consumer electronics maunfacturers and Hollywood have choosen.
So what if the 360 is capable of a form of 3d, it wont be "THE" standard
everyone else is using and it wont be capable of playing the only disk format
that will carry the standard.

Exactly what does this mean in lieu of your original claim that you need BR
to be able to do 3D in video games (your words, "Entirely??? Not unless
XBOX720 gets bluray.")? Being a format standard because of it storage
capabilities isn't anything close to your Xbox720 statement, care to back
down from it now, or will you keep digressing from that claim?

"So, where does this leave the Xbox 360? It's fair to say that Microsoft has
shown no sign of supporting the format whatsoever, while Sony obviously has a
huge vested interest in the format being a success, factoring in its
investment in 3D displays and movies. Whether the HDMI 1.2 output of the Xbox
360 could be patched with any of the full-resolution stereo 3D modes remains
to be seen, but it's fair to say you shouldn't be holding your breath.
However, certainly in theory, a side-by-side 720p buffer is conceivable, and
Avatar 360's advantage in 3D performance over its PS3 counterpart is obvious
even without recourse to FPS analysis, suggesting that the horsepower is there
too: at the end of the day, there are few unique effects that one console can
achieve that the other can't match.
"The only question really is whether the Xbox 360's HANA chip could be
firmware-upgraded to interface with the new displays."

Yeah great link right made sense to me.
But the bigger problems lies withing the HDTV realm , everyone that
just got new HDTV's now have to go out and buy another one.
Something which many people just aren't willing to do.
Look at the Wii no HDTV no 3-d trickery and its raping both PS3/360
The public has spoken
MS is trying to go the Wii route with Natal whether they succeed or
not is debatable and SONY is doing their "blu-ray" we only have it
speech again and now its with 3-d . We know how well that went over
The bottom line is as stealthy as this OP thread was the 360 right now
today has better framerates at 3-d than the PS3 with AVATAR
yes we know that's another 3-d format but still the 360 maintained a
steady framerate while the PS3 dipped into the low teens
Just saying maybe look at the whole picture
In any case most of us hear have all platforms so why worry
The only obstacle right now is on the HDTV side not so much console

Who's worrying? 3D isn't going to be some breakout innovation in
gaming. It's going to be as niche in gaming as it is in movies. Even
Project Natal will have more reach.

Exactly. 3D HDTVs are going to be far more niche than Blu-ray, which
is already a niche technology (a big niche is still a niche).

Everyone's response will be the same: "We don't care."

Hi
I was just wondering if static members are shared across concurrent
